What It Means
Lead time encompasses the full production cycle: raw material procurement, scheduling, manufacturing, testing, packaging, and shipping. Typical supplement manufacturing lead times range from 6-16 weeks depending on formulation complexity, ingredient availability, testing requirements, and production queue. Custom formulations and specialty ingredients can extend lead times significantly.
What It Is Not
Quoted lead times are estimates, not guarantees. Supply chain disruptions, testing failures, ingredient shortages, and production scheduling can extend timelines. 'Rush' production may compromise quality control steps. Lead time does not include formulation development or regulatory review.
