Before you wire a deposit to a supplement manufacturer, there are seven questions you should ask. You'll get much better answers before the money is sent than after. Before you pay, the manufacturer is still trying to win your business, so they'll take the time to answer you properly. After you pay, your cash and your timeline are committed, and the same questions get harder to push on. So let's go through seven items ideally while you're still comparing a few manufacturers.

It's easy to treat the deposit as a formality, but when you pay it, you're committing to a partner before you've seen a single finished bottle. A capable manufacturer understands that and will usually put the terms that protect you in writing without being asked. A weaker one tends to get vague once the money comes up. Asking these questions is perfectly normal, and one conversation is usually enough to tell which kind of partner you're dealing with.

Start with a question about priority. Where will my account sit? A manufacturer with a full client list can take your deposit and still schedule your runs behind its bigger customers. So ask how much capacity they have right now and who you'll actually be talking to once you're a customer. How quickly and clearly they answer tells you a lot about the next two years.

The rest fall into three groups. The first group is about money. What exactly does the deposit secure, and how is the rest scheduled? Often, it is around half upfront, though terms vary, so get the full schedule in writing. And if a run comes back late or off-spec, what's the remedy? The second group of questions is about ownership. Do you own the formula in writing before any money moves? And will they sign a separate quality agreement that spells out the specs and who's responsible when something is off? The third group is about protection. Do they carry product liability insurance, and what are the limits? And what do reorders look like once you're a returning customer?

Those are the seven, and none of them are about the product itself. They're about whether you can trust this partner with your money. The certifications and lab reports still matter, and we have other videos on those. But the business terms are what protect you when a run goes wrong.

So ask these seven questions before you send the deposit and get the answers in writing. If a manufacturer won't put something in writing, ask them why before you pay. The full evaluation checklist and a directory of manufacturers to send them to is linked below. Thanks for watching.
