ConsumerLab Quality Certification

Issued by ConsumerLab.com, LLC

Certification

Audit Scope

Product-level testing that a manufacturer or distributor requests through ConsumerLab.com's Quality Certification Program. Testing is conducted in the same manner as ConsumerLab's own Product Reviews, and test samples are not accepted directly from the manufacturer. The manufacturer pays a testing fee. Test methods are set per product category.

What It Proves

An approved product passed ConsumerLab's category testing on samples not taken directly from its maker. Current approvals are in bold on CL's list. A product the list marks "Similar to" an approved product is listed under ConsumerLab's Multi-Label Testing Program because its maker showed the formulation is identical.

What It Does Not Prove

Does NOT cover the brand's other products: ConsumerLab says it has not necessarily tested or approved other products on a vendor's site. Certification is for 24 months, and a product certified earlier may not promote its certification or carry the CL Seal, so check that the product is shown in bold on the list, not only its year. Carrying the CL Seal directly on product labeling has a separate condition: the product must pass retesting every twelve months. Test methods differ by product category, so a pass in one category does not mean the same tests were run in another. Results belong to the manufacturer and are not published in full on the public list.
