ISA Halal (Islamic Services of America)
Issued by Islamic Services of America (ISA)
CertificationAudit Scope
Halal certification of ingredients, products, facilities, and processes per Islamic dietary law. Founded 1975, Cedar Rapids, Iowa — one of the oldest U.S. halal certification bodies. Periodic on-site audits + supply-chain documentation review. Recognized by international Islamic authorities for export markets.
What It Proves
ISA halal-certification authority confirms product, ingredients, facility, and process meet ISA halal standards per Islamic dietary law. ISA is recognized by international Islamic food authorities for export/global markets.
What It Does Not Prove
Does NOT mean the product is kosher, vegan, organic, or gluten-free — separate certifications required. Different U.S. halal agencies (IFANCA, ISA, Halal Transactions of Omaha, AHF) have slightly different standards and may not be interchangeable for specific export markets. 'Halal' alone (without an agency mark) is unverifiable. Recognition by foreign Islamic authorities (e.g., Malaysia JAKIM, Indonesia BPJPH/MUI) is country-specific and requires separate registration.
