JIHFS Health Food GMP (Japan)
Issued by Japan Institute for Health Food Standards (JIHFS, 一般社団法人 日本健康食品規格協会)
CertificationAudit Scope
Plant-by-plant GMP certification of Japanese health-food factories under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's health food GMP guideline. JIHFS certifies finished-product plants (健康食品GMP, certificate numbers 製-) and raw-material plants (原材料GMP, numbers 原-). It is one of the two third-party bodies the Ministry names for this review; the other is JHNFA.
What It Proves
JIHFS lists the named plant as certified to its health-food GMP (finished products) or raw-material GMP, with the certificate number, the first certification date and the latest renewal date.
What It Does Not Prove
It is a Japanese voluntary GMP certification for one plant, NOT FDA cGMP compliance under 21 CFR Part 111, not FDA registration and not a product test. It covers the listed plant only, not the company's other sites. JIHFS states a certificate is valid for three years, with on-site interim audits in years one and two; the list shows the first certification and latest renewal dates and no expiry date, so currency is three years from the latest date. Raw-material GMP covers making the ingredient, not finished supplements.
