STAR-K Kosher Certification

Issued by STAR-K Kosher Certification (Baltimore)

Certification

Audit Scope

Rabbinic supervision of ingredient sourcing, equipment, and production for kosher compliance. Periodic on-site inspections. One of the 'Big Five' U.S. kosher certifying agencies, with global reach and significant supplement-industry presence. Self-described 50+ years of operation.

What It Proves

STAR-K rabbinic authority confirms ingredients, equipment, and process meet STAR-K kashrut standards. Public listings available for companies, products, and retail establishments. STAR-D designates Non-Cholov Yisroel Kosher Dairy; STAR-S designates Sephardic Mehadrin certification.

What It Does Not Prove

Does NOT mean the product is halal, vegan, organic, or gluten-free — separate certifications required. Different kosher agencies (OU, OK, Star-K, Kof-K, cRc) have slightly different standards and are not always interchangeable in specific dietary contexts. 'Kosher' alone (without an agency mark) is unverifiable. STAR-K ≠ STAR-D ≠ STAR-S — the tier marks reflect distinct kashrut categories, not progressively higher trust.
