Private Label

Business

Also known as: White label, Stock formula, Turnkey product

Pre-made supplement formulas that a brand can sell under its own label.

What It Means

Private label (or white label) products are pre-formulated supplements manufactured in bulk that brands can package and sell under their own branding. The brand does not own or control the formulation — the manufacturer does. Private label offers faster time-to-market and lower upfront costs than custom formulation, but limits product differentiation. Many large CMOs maintain catalogs of 100+ stock formulas.

What It Is Not

Private label is NOT custom formulation. The brand cannot modify the formula, change ingredient sources, or claim proprietary formulation. Multiple competing brands may sell the exact same product under different labels. 'White label' and 'private label' are often used interchangeably but can have slightly different meanings in some contexts.
