Amazon charges a fee on every item it sells for you, so your price has to cover its fees from the first unit. This guide lists the fees a supplement brand pays per unit, links each one to Amazon's own page, and ends with an estimator for your margin.

The short answer

Amazon charges three fees on every unit it ships for you: a referral fee (15 percent of a price above $10, at least $0.30), an FBA fulfillment fee set by size and weight, and monthly storage. Since April 17, 2026, a 3.5 percent surcharge applies to fulfillment fees. Holiday peak rates run from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027.

The three fees every unit pays

Referral fee

Amazon's referral fee for Beauty, Health and Personal Care is 8 percent of the total sales price at $10.00 or less and 15 percent above $10.00. The minimum is $0.30 per item. Source: Amazon, Sell on Amazon pricing (as of October 20, 2026). The total sales price is everything the shopper pays, including the item price and any delivery or gift wrapping charges. Source: Amazon, Selling on Amazon fee schedule (as of October 20, 2026).

FBA fulfillment fee

Amazon sets the fulfillment fee by size tier, shipping weight and price band: under $10, $10 to $50, and over $50. Since April 17, 2026, Amazon adds a 3.5 percent fuel and logistics surcharge to fulfillment fees, and its rate tables leave it out. Source: Amazon, 2026 US FBA fulfillment fee changes (as of October 20, 2026).

Monthly storage fee

The base storage fee for standard-size products is $0.78 per cubic foot per month from January to September and $2.40 from October to December. Source: Amazon, Monthly inventory storage fees (as of October 20, 2026). These rates, the fulfillment tables below and the estimator are for products Amazon does not classify as dangerous goods. Dangerous goods have their own fulfillment fee table and pay $0.99 and $3.63 per cubic foot for standard-size storage. A storage utilization surcharge is added only for established Professional sellers who store a lot relative to what they ship. It applies after your first 365 days, at 25 or more cubic feet of daily inventory, and above 22 weeks of storage relative to sales.

Fees that apply only in some cases

  • Low-inventory-level fee. Amazon adds it per unit shipped when both your 90-day and 30-day historical days of supply are below 28 days. For a small standard product up to 16 ounces it is $0.89 below 14 days, $0.63 at 14 to 21 days, and $0.32 at 21 to 28 days. New Professional sellers are exempt for their first 365 days, and so are products that sold fewer than 20 units in the past seven days. Source: Amazon, Low-inventory-level fee (as of October 20, 2026).
  • Aged inventory surcharge. Units stored 181 days or longer pay it on top of storage, starting at $0.50 per cubic foot. From 366 to 455 days it is the greater of $6.90 per cubic foot or $0.30 per unit; from 456 days, the greater of $7.90 or $0.35. Source: Amazon, Aged inventory surcharge (as of October 20, 2026).
  • Returns processing fee. It applies only to returned units above a category return-rate threshold: 5.5 percent for Beauty, Health and Personal Care. A product that shipped fewer than 25 units in a month is exempt. Source: Amazon, 2026 returns processing fee changes (as of October 20, 2026).
  • Refund administration fee. When you refund a shopper for an order you have already been paid for, Amazon returns the referral fee minus a refund administration fee: the lesser of $5.00 or 20 percent of the referral fee. On a $29.99 bottle, that is about $0.90. Source: Amazon, Selling on Amazon fee schedule (as of October 20, 2026).
  • Inbound placement fee. Sending inventory to the fewest inbound locations (minimal shipment splits) carries a per-unit fee. Shipping to the several locations Amazon picks carries no fee but needs at least 5 identical cartons or pallets per item. Source: Amazon, FBA inbound placement service fee (as of October 20, 2026).
  • Selling plan. Professional costs $39.99 a month; Individual costs $0.99 per item sold. Source: Amazon, Sell on Amazon pricing (as of October 20, 2026).

The first two fees pull against each other. Keep enough stock at Amazon to stay above 28 days of supply, but not so much that units pass 180 days. A weekly stock review is the simplest way to hold that band; our inventory visibility SOP kit sets one up on a spreadsheet.
