Clean Label Project Certification

Issued by Clean Label Project (501(c)(3) nonprofit)

Certification

Audit Scope

META-CERT: aggregates pre-existing GMP / food-safety certifications (NSF/ANSI 455-2, SQF, NPA) + adds contaminant testing (heavy metals, pesticides, BPA, phthalates). NOT a standalone GMP certification. Annual renewal; lot-level contaminant testing.

What It Proves

Specific products have been tested for environmental contaminants beyond what cGMP requires (heavy metals, pesticides, BPA, phthalates) AND the manufacturing facility holds an underlying NSF/SQF/NPA GMP certification that CLP audits.

What It Does Not Prove

Does NOT replace underlying GMP cert. WITHOUT a base cert (NSF/SQF/NPA), CLP alone is INSUFFICIENT for trust-tier 3+ promotion per docs/specs/vendor-discovery-spec.md SACRED quality-floor. Per BSCG analysis 2026: 'Clean Label Project is a META-cert that evaluates GMP or food safety certificates' — its strength depends on the underlying base cert's strength.
