SQF (Safe Quality Food) Certification

Issued by Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI), managed by FMI

Certification

Audit Scope

GFSI-benchmarked food safety and quality management. Edition 10 published March 1, 2026 (Edition 10 audits expected to begin January 2, 2027; Edition 9 remains operational through the transition). Includes a dedicated Dietary Supplement Manufacturing code. The Level 1/2/3 structure is Edition 9-era labeling: Level 1 (food safety fundamentals), Level 2 (food safety), Level 3 (food safety + quality).

What It Proves

Facility has passed a GFSI-benchmarked food safety (and possibly quality) audit. Level 2+ includes HACCP-based food safety plans.

What It Does Not Prove

SQF is a food industry standard, not supplement-specific. A legacy 'SQF Level 2' label denotes 'Food Safety' only; Level 3 added quality (Edition 9 terminology; Edition 10 restructures the program). Does NOT replace supplement-specific cGMP.
