Overview
Taiyo International Inc. is the US subsidiary of Taiyo Kagaku Co., Ltd., headquartered in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Japan. Established in the US in 1994 and based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Taiyo is the producer of Suntheanine, a patented 100% pure L-theanine dietary supplement produced via a proprietary enzymatic process that mimics natural L-theanine production in green tea leaves. FDA issued a no-questions response to Taiyo International's GRN 209 for specified food uses of L-theanine in 2007; this is not FDA approval of Suntheanine. Taiyo also supplies SunFiber (partially hydrolyzed guar gum fiber) and matcha/green tea ingredients. The company operates additional subsidiaries in Germany (Taiyo GmbH, Stuttgart, est. 2012) and China (Taiyo Kagaku China, Shanghai, est. 2006).
